Next time you think you can’t create content on a very low budget, come back to visit my Instagram – this is how a £2.25 photo looks like and I think it is perfectly acceptable for any storytelling format, online and offline.
I paid £1 for a set of seven clothes peg (each of them has a day of the week written, but I use it to hold paper, not underpants).
The flowers cost £1.25. And the colourful thing you see at the background, to add some contrast, is actually, an empty chocolate box.
Summary: content is not about production costs. It is about what you have to say.

To encourage social media users to support entrepreneurs, Instagram recently launched a new sticker so anyone can help businesses to gain social media presence and, hopefully, new customers too.
Users can promote their favourite small businesses using #supportsmallbusiness sticker and adding them on their Stories.
To boost it, Instagram will also show a collection of Stories using the Support Small Business sticker on the top carousel.

If you see a successful rate of engagement for each content posted by one of your competitors, try to understand how they are getting such amazing response, what performs well and learn from that.
You don’t have to copy anything that other social channels have published, you don’t have to steal any idea from another company, but you can still apply learnings when crafting your own content.

Don't waste your time liking posts in a random way. Do it if you really like or save your fingers doing some research first (topics, hashtags, location, etc), then give a deserved heart to content and accounts that will work well for your business.
Plus: Never underestimate what your competitors are up to across social media channels and also have a look at who is commenting positively on their posts: chances are that a considerable chunk of these people are, actually, your target market and you should start to engage with them asap.
